Dance joins forces with Swapfiets
Christian Springub and Marc de Vries
Today, we're announcing an exciting new chapter for Dance: Dance has been acquired by Swapfiets, the world's first bicycle-as-a-service company.
For more than six years, Dance has been working toward one simple mission: making sustainable travel the easy choice. We started with the belief that getting around the city should be simple, flexible, and enjoyable - without the hassle of ownership. Since then, thousands of members have made Dance part of their everyday lives in cities like Paris, Berlin, and Hamburg.
Now, together with Swapfiets, we have the opportunity to take that mission even further.
Swapfiets has built Europe’s biggest bike subscription offering, with deep operational expertise, a large service network, and a strong presence across the continent. Dance brings a premium e-bike experience, sleek hardware, and a digital-first customer journey designed around simplicity and flexibility.
By combining these strengths, we’ll be able to create an even better experience for Dance members over time.
For our customers, this means more support behind the service you already know: more operational strength, more shared expertise, and more opportunities to improve our bikes, app, service, and overall ride experience. The Dance brand will continue, and our team will keep focusing on what matters most - making every ride smooth, reliable, and easy.
Together, Swapfiets and Dance will have around 290,000 members across 45 cities, with more than 75,000 subscription e-bikes on the road. This scale gives us a stronger foundation to keep improving urban mobility in Europe’s most important cycling cities, including Paris, Berlin, and Hamburg.
Just as importantly, this is a partnership built around a shared belief: cities become better when more people can choose simple, sustainable ways to move. By joining the Swapfiets family, Dance can continue growing with the right partner - one that understands subscriptions, service, and the future of urban mobility.
Christian Springub, co-founder and CEO of Dance, will remain in his role and continue leading the Dance brand. Our current operational teams will ensure continuity for members while both companies begin sharing best practices in hardware innovation, digital experience, and service.
To our members: thank you for riding with us, giving us feedback, and helping shape Dance into what it is today. This next chapter is about building on that foundation and making the Dance experience even stronger.
The road ahead is full of opportunity - for our members, our cities, and the future of sustainable mobility.
